On 30 November 2022, team India locked horns with New Zealand in Christchurch for the third and last match of the three-match ODI series. The Kiwis won the first match while the second match got abandoned due to rain. So, India were looking to avoid a series loss by winning this clash. On the other hand, New Zealand were looking to seal the series.
However, fans were not happy with the form of Rishabh Pant on this tour. First, he got a chance in the T20Is and then, two ODIs. Still, he failed to score. Compared to him, Sanju Samson got only one chance in the first ODI and he scored 36 runs off 38 balls. But, team India decided not to pick him again in the second and third ODI. However, Pant again failed to deliver in the last ODI as the renowned politician Shashi Tharoor came up with tweets in support of Samson.
Here are the tweets:
One more failure for Pant, who clearly needs a break from white-ball cricket. One more opportunity denied to @IamSanjuSamson who now has to wait for the @IPL to show that he’s one of the best too-order bats in India. #IndvsNZ https://t.co/RpJKkDdp5n

Rishabh Pant scored 42 runs in four innings in New Zealand
Speaking of the tweets, Tharoor wrote: “One more failure for Pant, who clearly needs a break from white-ball cricket. One more opportunity denied to @IamSanjuSamson who now has to wait for the Indian T20 League to show that he’s one of the best top-order bats in India. #IndvsNZ.”
Before the last ODI, he also wrote: “Pant has done well at No. 4, so it is important to back him," says @VVSLaxman281. He’s a good player out of form who’s failed in ten of his last 11 innings; Samson averages 66 in ODIs, has made runs in all his last five matches & is on the bench. Go figure. @IamSanjuSamson,”
Speaking of this tour, Rishabh Pant managed only 10 runs off 16 balls in the last match. After this inning, he managed only 42 runs in four innings. On the other hand, Sanju Samson managed 36 runs off 38 balls in a single inning. Meanwhile, India got bundled out for 219 runs in 47.3 overs in the last ODI.
