Former Test cricketer Shiv Sunder Das has been designated as the batting coach of the women's cricket team for the forthcoming England tour. Retired wicket-keeper batsman Abhay Sharma has been named fielding coach of the women's side. Shiv Das has earlier worked with the India women's A team. He will now join head coach Ramesh Powar for the forthcoming England series planned to begin in June.
Ramesh Powar replaced WV Raman as the head coach of the women's cricket team. The former's first assignment as a head coach would be in June-July this year. The women's cricket team is going to play one Test, three T20Is, and three ODIs against England.
Excited about sharing my experience with the women's team: Das
India and England will play against each other in a four-day Test match, commencing from June 16. The top-notch team will then face each other in three ODIs beginning June 27. All the One Day Internationals will be played at Bristol, Taunton, and Worcester. Both sides will then square off in three T20Is, beginning July 9. Thus, all three matches of the shortest format will be played at Northampton, Hove, and Chelmsford. Mithali Raj is going to lead the team for the one-off Test and three ODIs. Harmanpreet Kaur will take over the captaincy duties during the three T20 Internationals. Team India is assumed to leave for England in the first week of June after completing a quarantine period in Mumbai.
Shiv Sunder Das added that he is excited about the opportunity to share his experience of playing in English conditions with the women's cricket team. Earlier, Shiv Das had also worked as a batting coach at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
