India's squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup has been announced. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have been added to the squad after recovering from injuries. The duo is currently training at the National Cricket Academy. Mohammad Shami could not make it to the squad but has been named in the list of standby players. In comparison to the Asia Cup, this squad bears a dominating pace attack.

When it comes to the spin department, Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin have been named as the two spinners with Ravi Bishnoi slotting in as a standby and Axar Patel as well, who can bat lower down the order and bowl 4 full overs of left arm spin.

The keeper’s slot has had an enduring discussion right through the Asia Cup. Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant were not able to showcase their normal game and both had a below-par show at the Asia Cup 2022. However, both the players have found a place for themselves in the team. It remains to be seen who their 1st choice wicketkeeper-batter will be.

Sanju Samson, who has recently put on some strong performances in the Indian T20 League and in the West Indies series, was not given a chance to join the team. Many expected him to take Pant’s spot in the team as the second-choice wicketkeeper. With Ravindra Jadeja injured, Axar Patel has been included in the squad as he is a left-hander who can bat in the middle order and is a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will take the new ball for India and Hardik will be the sixth bowling option for the national side. Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will be India's first choice options at the death.
