In a big blow to the five-time winners Mumbai, left-arm pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. Mills played the first five games for his side before sustaining an ankle injury which ruled him out for the remaining games. Meanwhile, Mumbai have named South Africa star Tristan Stubbs, who is the middle-order batter, as Mills' replacement. Stubbs is a promising middle-order batter and recently made his debut for South Africa A against Zimbabwe.
“Mumbai Indians have signed South African Tristan Stubbs as a replacement for Tymal Mills, who has sustained an injury and has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL,” Mumbai wrote in a press release on their official website.
"The 21 year old, talented middle order batsman, recently debuted for the national South African A Squad against Zimbabwe. Tristan has had a very promising domestic season and played an important role for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league.
“Tristan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season.”

Talking about the Protean career, he has played 17 T20s and has amassed 506 runs, averaging 38.92 at a strike rate of 157.14. It will be interesting to see whether he gets a chance in the ongoing 15th season of the cash-rich league or not. The team will play their next game against Indian T20 League debutants, Gujarat on May 6 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The team would be looking to register a few wins before bowing out of the tournament. Mumbai has had a horrendous tournament, losing eight of the nine games they have played.
