It is set to face South Africa in the 2nd ODI of the three-match ODI series at St. Georgia’s Park in Gqeberha. India is leading the series by 1-0 and they will be looking to win this match to get an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match series.
In the first match, Indian pace bowlers wreaked havoc on the Proteas batters as Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan took 9 wickets among them and made light work of the explosive South African batting line-up restricting them to a paltry total of 116 runs.
On the other hand, the South African team led by Aiden Markram will be looking to bounce back in the 2nd ODI after suffering a heavy defeat on their turf. They had a dismal batting show on a spicy deck where the ball was doing enough to give the bowlers some purchase but the South African batters also didn’t apply themselves which led to their downfall in the first ODI.
Both sides are in with some new faces in the squad as the main players are gearing up for the Test series which is to commence from 26th December. Thus it is a really good chance for youngsters to make a mark for themselves on the international stage. The Indian team will miss the services of Shreyas Iyer in the match as he is set to join the red-ball squad for the two-day practice game starting on 20th December.
