Former legendary skipper Ricky Ponting has come in with all praises for the young Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill. Ponting has spoken highly of Gill just ahead of India and Australia's much-anticipated World Test Championship 2023 final. The two Test cricketing giants will lock horns in this title clash at The Oval in London.

The match will commence on the 7th  of June, Wednesday from 7.30 PM. Coming back to Ricky Ponting’s statement for Gill, he has witnessed the youngster’s game very closely. At the same time, he was active as a mentor in the Indian Premier League 2023 with the Delhi Capitals franchise.

“He looks like a terrific young guy. He's got that bit of attitude about him as well. He's got a bit of swagger. He has some serious class,” said Ponting to ICC.

Later on, the World Champion Aussie skipper also praised the hitting ability and techniques of Gill while batting at the highest level of the game.

“That sort of front foot pull shot that he plays against the fast bowlers will be a shot that he'll probably need against this Australian attack," he added later.
