Indian skipper and one of the modern-day batting superstars, Rohit Sharma has achieved a new milestone in his career. He has become the 6th Indian batter to score 10,000 ODI runs. Rohit achieved this milestone in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 super-4 clash against Sri Lanka. He is looking in brilliant touch with the bat so far in the ongoing edition of the tournament. He is also the second fastest to reach 10,000 ODI runs just after his teammate and former skipper Virat Kohli.

Apart from the 11-run knock in the first match against Pakistan, he scored two consecutive half-centuries in the group-stage match against Nepal and the super-4 match against Pakistan. apart from being the 6th highest-run scorer for India in ODIs, Rohit has also become only the second-highest-run scorer in ODIs for India in the current active batters just after former skipper Virat Kohli, who recently reached the milestone fastest 13,000 ODI runs and became only the 5th highest-run scorer in the history of the game.

The only batter to score 3 ODI double-centuries

Coming back to Rohit Sharma, he is the only batter in the history of the game to score 3 ODI double centuries. He still holds the record for the highest individual score of 264 runs in ODIs which he scored against Sri Lanka almost 9 years back on November 13, 2014, at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.

Other than that, Rohit scored his first double-century against Australia on November 2, 2013, at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru whereas his third ODI double ton came once again against Sri Lanka on December 17, 2017, at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Speaking of the current action of the ongoing super-4 clash between India and Sri Lanka, the men in blue won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening pair Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have stitched a partnership of runs for the first wicket so far. Team India has come up with one change in the playing XI of this match compared to the last clash against Pakistan; spin-allrounder Axar Patel has replaced the pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
