At 94-2, India were staring down the barrel and they were looking to only get a sub-par total of 160- 170. KL Rahul had a very scratchy inning, to say the least. He tried to fight it out and find his form but it did not happen. Virat Kohli was there at the crease and he looked set, but slightly iffy. The shots were coming, but the fluency was not there.
India needed someone who could bail the side out of a precarious situation and then power India through to a good total. They found the man with an ice-cool attitude and a different demeanor about him- Suryakumar Yadav. He strode to the crease and off the first ball he faced, he swept the bowler for four. The next ball, he did the same, this time he played the sweep a lot finer.
He is good with the cut and also the sweep and the pull. His strong wrists allow him to use the pace of the ball and get maximum results. After getting 2 boundaries and a six with a flick of the wrist in the 18th over, the stage was set. Yadav knew that he could be the difference between av average total and a match-winning total.
Haroon Arshad had an expensive over when he had bowled his first, and he was called on to wrap things up. He did not start well. First ball, Surya went after him and swung over sweeper cover for six. The next ball, he went over extra cover and got the same result. On the next ball, he went straight down the ground, and off the fifth ball, he got a maximum with the scoop shot using his fast hands.
