India defeated England by 49 runs in the second T20I match of the series. The Rohit Sharma-led team did not have the best run with the bat, but their bowling made up for it. England, on the other hand, continued their poor batting from the previous match and continued to lose wickets regularly. With this victory, India clinched the series with one match remaining.

England won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Edgbaston Stadium. India got off to a good start with the bat as Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant got some quick runs. They added 49 runs in the partnership, but it all went south after that. Sharma (31), Pant (26), and Virat Kohli (one) were all dismissed by the debutant Richard Gleeson. He bowled brilliantly to dismiss India's top order.

Within seven overs, the side had lost three wickets for a total of 61 runs. Following that, it was Chris Jordan's hard lengths that caused India problems. He took a couple of wickets in the middle overs, limiting the run flow. The batting unit had lost half of their players for a team score of 89 runs in 11 overs.

Then came Ravindra Jadeja, who continued his superb form from the Test match. He played a mature knock while wickets kept falling on the other end. He hit a few boundaries in his innings of 46 runs in 29 to help the team to a total of 170/8. For England, Jordan completed his four-wicket haul.

In the defence, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a brilliant opening spell to dismiss Jason Roy (0) and Jos Buttler (four). Jasprit Bumrah also got involved, dismissing the dangerous-looking Liam Livingstone (15). England lagged at 36 in the first six overs. Post that, troubles continued for the hosts as Yuzvendra Chahal struck two wickets in his first two overs.

England lost another wicket, and Moeen Ali (35) tried to take charge of the innings but did not last long. He was out in the 15th over for a team total of 94 runs. In the end, England kept losing wickets and eventually were all out for a score of 121 in the 17th over. Kumar had three wickets, Bumrah and Chahal each had two, and Hardik Pandy and Harshal Patel each had one.
