This controversial incident took place during the fifth and rescheduled Test match between England and India on 1 July 2022. After having an intense practice session, the players went for lunch. But, they only custom sandwiches along with fruits and falafel. players were expecting a full-course meal as it was lunchtime. Even, the foods were cold that got served to the players.
Regarding it, an official privy to the development of the Indian Cricket Board said to PTI: "It's not like any boycott... Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food going back to the hotel. The problem is that the Governing Body of Cricket isn't providing any hot food after lunch. In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for the Governing Body of Cricket, the rule is the same for all countries."
Virat Kohli fake-throw controversy during T20 World Cup
This controversial incident took place during the 20-20 World Cup 2022 when team India took on Bangladesh on 2 November 2022. India won that match by five wickets but Virat Kohli got accused of ‘Fake Fielding’. During the seventh over of Bangladesh’s innings, Virat Kohli was seen doing a ‘Fake Throw’ to divert the batters. However, the umpire missed it and they did not take any actions during the match.
After the match, Bangladesh claimed that umpires did not give five penalty runs for that incident. Bangladesh’s Nurul Hasan said: "Certainly the field was wet and it had an impact and everyone saw that and eventually what I felt is that when we were talking there was a fake throw and it could have been a five-run penalty and that could have gone our way but unfortunately even that didn't come."
