Star Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has made an impressive comeback after a long wait of almost a year due to his injury last year. He is in good touch with the ball for India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The 29-year-old scalped one wicket against Pakistan in Team India’s first super-4 match.
Following that, he has bowled a brilliant spell so far in the ongoing second super-4 match of India against the hosts, Sri Lanka. Bumrah has scalped two wickets at the cost of just 21 runs in 5 overs, including a maiden over. Bumrah has conceded runs with an impressive economy rate of 4.20. He claimed the two wickets of Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka and wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis.
Just after his comeback for India last month, Bumrah was appointed as the stand-in skipper when the men in blue toured Ireland for a three-match T20I series with their second-string side. The Ahmedabad pace won the ‘Player of the Series award for his brilliant bowling as he claimed 4 wickets in two matches, helping India to win the series by 2-0 with one match got called-off due to rain.
Jasprit Bumrah gives a brilliant start to India in the powerplay against Sri Lanka
In the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, he is currently bowling in his second match for the seven-time Asia Cup champions. The right-arm pacer has scalped 3 wickets so far, being very economical for India in the powerplay overs.
Speaking of the current action of the ongoing super-4 match between India and Sri Lanka, the hosts are chasing the target of 214 runs; they are currently on the score 52 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, having middle-order batters, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka there in the middle on the individual scores of 10 and 13 runs, respectively. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have claimed 1 and 2 wickets, respectively for Team India.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma’s men got bundled up on a low-par total of 213 runs in 49.1 overs.
