According to sources, the England Cricket Board (ECB) is likely to announce West Indies star cricketer Kieron Pollard as an interim coach for its white-ball team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place in May and June next year in the USA and West Indies. Notably, the Mumbai Indians legend, who is regarded as one of the most piercing strategists in the T20 format, provides a lot of experience and deep knowledge of the West Indian conditions.

According to The Telegraph, the great all-rounder was willing to join the England team on a consultancy basis during the next T20 World Cup in 2024. The move resembles an ongoing pattern in which successful players are hired as coaches seek to capitalise on their deep knowledge and strategic opinions.

Meanwhile, the England Cricket Team had an awful edition of the ODI World Cup 2023, where they ended up in seventh place in the points table with four wins out of nine league games. Moreover, the Jos Buttler-led England side failed to beat frail teams like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, which did not allow them to enter the playoffs and failed to retain their title.

However, the English camp did not want to repeat them ever again in the marquee event, which led them to hire the West Indies star cricketer, who was part of the 2012 T20 World Cup and helped his side win the title. England is currently looking to retain the T20 World Cup title in the upcoming edition.

Notably, the Jos Butter-led England team emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup 2022 after successfully beating the Pakistan team in the final game at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. However, they set their eyes on the next Marquee event. Meanwhile, England has recently played five matches of the T20I series against the West Indies, where they suffered a 2–3 series loss.
