As per those close to him, former Indian captain Virat Kohli has been struggling with a slump in form and isn't in a good mental position. After the series against England, the 33-year-old is expected to stay back in the UK with his wife and daughter. He may entirely shun cricket for a month.

Anushka Sharma, Kohli's wife, and their daughter Vamika have already arrived in London. Saroj Kohli, Virat's mother, will also accompany him. The Kohli family is planning to relocate to an undisclosed location for the break in order to recover from the mental strain induced by continually being questioned about his position on the team.

According to reports, he would rejoin the Indian team for the Asia Cup 2022 towards the end of August. Notably, Virat has taken a rest from India's tour of the West Indies that begins on the 22nd of July.

Indian selectors see Virat as an important element of the team for the T20 World Cup. However, if he does not regain his form, he may be dropped after the World Cup. He might also be dropped from India's home series against Australia.

"There will always be a low after high and that is exactly what Virat is going through. But considering the team, nobody is immune. Ajinkya and Pujara, too, have been dropped and so did so many other cricketers. He will certainly feature in the T20 World Cup if he is fit. But that will be his last chance as we have to look at the team as well. If he doesn’t get his form back, he will be asked to go back to domestic and get his form back," a member of the selection committee was quoted saying by the Sports Tiger.

Despite there being a lot of chat about Virat Kohli's form, the team management has shown complete trust in the player. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma has come in support of the veteran cricketer on many occasions.
