Ahead of the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia, all captains attended a media interaction in central Melbourne on 15 October 2022. Reporters got the opportunity to hear from each captain and ask questions. However, the Facebook channel for the Governing Body of Cricket live-streamed that event for global fans.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also attended the event. On 14 October, he managed to lead his team to victory in the T20I tri-series in New Zealand. Meanwhile, Babar’s birthday is also on 15 October. So, during that event, the Australian skipper, Aaron Finch came up with a fantastic gesture as the video went viral.

Babar Azam will look to win the upcoming World Cup for Pakistan after exiting the last edition in the Semi-final
Speaking of the video, all captains were ready to leave the podium after completing the scheduled media interaction. Then, the host, Melaine Jones said: “Actually, waiting. Posing. You can still stand Babar. Because it was announced a little bit earlier that we do have a special day today. Aaron Finch is going to present Babar with a happy birthday cake to Babar. Now, most of us in the room are Australians. So, we will not ask anyone to sing because that is not our thing. But, we will get him a round of applause, Happy Birthday Babar!”
After receiving the cake, the Pakistan skipper looked happy with all smiles. He said: “Thank You. Thank You, man!” The host further added: “Babar, thank you. Have a wonderful day. Thank you to eight captains as well.” Speaking of his recent form, Babar Azam had a good T20I tri-series in New Zealand.
In five innings, he scored 192 runs at an average of 48. So, his form will be crucial for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. After losing the last edition in the Semi-final against Australia, Babar Azam will look to lead his team to the ultimate glory this time around. Pakistan will play their first match of the World Cup against India in Melbourne on 23 October 2022.
