Ishan Kishan

The young Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was one of the headlines during the first of the two-match Test series against West Indies for his continuous comments behind the stumps. Most of the time, his banters also got recorded in the stump mic during the first Test.

In the same line of events, Kishan took a hilarious dig at his senior teammate Ajinkya Rahane when West Indies’ number 11 batter Jomel Warrican was batting in the second innings on the third day of the match. Warrican ended up scoring 18 runs off 18 balls before he got out of the veteran Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin. Meanwhile, Ishan didn’t waste time roasting Rahane, who was standing in the slip cordon.

"Aap se zyada ball khel gaya yeh, Ajju bhai (He has now played more balls than you, Ajju bhai)," Ishan could be heard saying as recorded in the stump-mic. The video of this hilarious moment started surfacing on social media as soon as it was shared on Twitter by a user.

Here’s the video:

Speaking of the action of the match, the visitors, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, completely dominated the match from day 1. West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first, but they couldn’t survive too long against the spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Ashwin claimed a five-wicket haul in the first innings, alongside Jadeja claiming three.

Later on, the young debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma smashed two amazing centuries for Team India to help India take a lead of 271 runs at the end of the first innings. Jaiswal scored 171 runs, whereas skipper Rohit Sharma added 103 runs before he got dismissed. On the back of these knocks, followed by former skipper Virat Kohli’s 76-run knock, India posted a total of 421 runs for the loss of five wickets before they declared the innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin shone once again in the second innings and claimed 7 wickets of West Indies to bundle them up only on the score of 130 runs. Eventually, India won the series opener by a massive margin of an innings and 141 runs to gain a lead of 1-0 in the series.
