The Big Bash League 2022/23 is ongoing and the teams are giving it their all to clinch the title in the competitive tournament. As things stand, Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Renegades faced off against each other in Match 10 of the tournament played on December 21, Wednesday and it was the latter who came out on top on the back of Andre Russell’s heroics.
To add more, the Heat managed to put on a decent total of 137 runs on the board at the end of the first innings on the back of Australian star Tom Rogers’ four-for. During the Renegades’ chase, Russell was put in a fix to rescue the team as they were reduced to 9/4. While his innings stood out among the rest, his 103-metre six in the 10th over off James Bazley turned out to be an eye-catching one.

Andre Russell heroics wins it for Melbourne Renegades
While the West Indian allrounder went wicketless with the ball, his heroics with the bat helped the team take an emphatic win. Although one could argue that Aaron Finch played a vital role with his 43-ball 31, Akeal Hossain, who picked up a three-for with the ball, played a handy knock of 19-ball 30 to breach the target.
Post the conclusion of the match, the Caribbean star opened up on the win and said that he wanted to contribute the most he can, highlighting the fact that he is going to play only for four games in the contest. Saying that he wants to score as many runs as possible for the team, Russell claimed that he wanted to make his stay with the team count.
“I'm only for four games here, so it was about finding the boundaries and to contribute for the side. Want to say well-done to everyone, was a proper team effort. Was a tricky pitch, some deliveries gripped and seamed around. I don't think that (slogging the seaming ball) was a good idea but once that was ball was replaced, the other ball didn't move as much. Just backed myself and wanted to be brave,” Russell was quoted as saying post the conclusion of the match.
