On 26 December 2022, Australia took on South Africa in the second match of the ongoing three-match Test series. The Aussies won the first game convincingly and hence, they were looking to win this clash to seal the series. On the other hand, Dean Elgar was looking to win this match to level the series with one more match to go.

Speaking of the match, Australia won the toss and asked the Proteas to bat first. For the visitors, skipper Dean Elgar and Sarel Erwee came out to open the innings. However, Elgar got involved in a funny incident with Nathan Lyon on day one and that video has now gone viral.

Here is the shared video:

Dean Elgar scored only 26 runs off 68 balls in the first innings of the Melbourne Test

Speaking of the video, the incident took place during the 13th over of South Africa’s first innings. Dean Elgar was batting while Boland was bowling for the Aussies. On the first delivery of that over, Elgar almost chopped in as he went to defend the ball awkwardly. But, the ball touched the stumps, but not enough for the bails to get knocked off.

Regarding that, Nathan Lyon was seen walking up to Elgar and said. “I reckon that’s your Santa present….That’s Santa coming late I reckon." In reply, the Proteas skipper said: “I’ve been a good boy.” Speaking of the match, South Africa’s batters failed miserably once again in this series. They got bundled out for just 189 runs in 68.4 overs. Dean Elgar scored just 26 runs off 68 balls, including two boundaries.

Kyle Verreynne scored 52 runs off 99 balls, including three fours. Marco Jansen scored 59 runs off 136 balls, including 10 fours. For the home side, Cameron Green was the star of the show as he took his maiden five-wicket haul in the Test. He grabbed five wickets for 27 runs in 10.4 overs. Apart from him, Mitchell Starc took two wickets while Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon took one wicket each.
