Veteran England pacer Stuart Broad stunned everyone, announcing his retirement after the end of Day 3 of the ongoing fifth Ashes Test. Taking a big decision on his cricketing career, Broad said that the ongoing Test at The Oval is going to be the swansong of his illustrious career. He decided to hang up his boots from all forms of international cricket.
Just to bid a special goodbye to the modern-day bowling great, the visitors Australia decided to give him a guard of honour before the start of play on Day 4 as he came out to bat. Broad was accompanied by his long-term bowling partner and senior teammate, James Anderson. The former gave a side hug to Anderson and wanted to go with him during the guard of honour.
'I'm tearing up here' – Naseer Hussain on Broad’s gesture for Anderson
Although Anderson decided to let the ‘man of the hour’ enjoy his moment, this particular moment was so emotional in its intensity that it drove the former England skipper Nasser Hussain into tears on-air during the commentary.
“I'm tearing up here. He wanted him to go through with him, put his arm around him, as he did all through his career,” said an emotional Hussain during his commentary stint.

Steve Smith requests James Anderson as well to take guard of honour
There was also something else that attracted the attention, and it was the special gesture from former Australia skipper Steve Smith for the veteran Englishman, Anderson. It all happened after Broad was given the guard of honour, and Anderson, who turned 41 on Sunday, was waiting for the completion of the guard of honour to proceed. But Smith prompted the 41-year-old to march in the channel as well.
Australia skipper Pat Cummins also accompanied Smith, suggesting Anderson to do the same. The video of these heartwarming scenes at The Oval is now making rounds on social media platforms
