Notably, the 42-year-old recently won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as captain for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). It was the fifth title for the 'Yellow Army' as they became the joint-most successful team in the history of the tournament, alongside Mumbai Indians (MI).
Speaking of international cricket, Dhoni hung up his boots almost three years ago in August 2020 after serving Indian cricket for 15 years at the highest level of the game. It was only under Dhoni’s captaincy that India became the number-one-ranked Test team in 2009.
Now, there have been speculations that Dhoni might be in action once again in the IPL 2024 with his team CSK. He recently underwent knee surgery after the conclusion of the 16th edition of the IPL. Among all the accolades that Dhoni has won individually as well as for the team, the most treasured silverware in his cabinet would be the ODI World Cup from 2011 when he led the national side to a famous win against Sri Lanka in the final. He is also the captain in the history of the game to win the three most prestigious trophies in limited-overs game, which are the ODI World Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy.
