Barcelona have made decent strides this season following a financial crisis that threatened the collapse of the club. After activating four economic levers, the Catalan club made some great signings this year with Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Andres Christensen being some of the world-class players coming in.
Additionally, Barcelona have also extended contracts of their young prospects with Pablo Martin Paez Gavira being one of them. Known as Gavi, the 18-year-old centre midfield player has been one of the biggest young talents at the Laliga club.
On 14th September, Gavi and Barcelona agreed to a contract extension with an eye-watering buyout clause of €1 billion. While a high buyout clause is becoming the norm, €1 billion is still considered a lot for a player.
The Barcelona player was ecstatic after signing the contract extension and said, “I’m very happy here, so it’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was young.”
“My family, my agent and I are always clear that we want to succeed here at Barcelona.”
Another incident, however, seems to have made a bigger story than the €1 billion buyout clause from the Gavi contract extension ceremony. In a video that is getting viral on social media, a fan girl could be seen giving what appears to be a small piece of paper to the Barcelona player who turned 18 on August 5th.
Here's the video:

Social media was soon buzzing after the video went viral and soon memes on the player started to crop up. Fans quickly found out the girl giving a piece of paper to Gavi. A Twitter user by the name of Trig suggests the girl's Instagram profile is “Anapelayozz”.
Barcelona recently lost to Bayern Munich in their Champions League clash and Allianz Arena. Goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane sunk Barcelona to a defeat in the Champions League group stage against the German rivals. With the defeat, Barcelona have fallen to second in Group C with Bayern Munich sitting comfortably at the top after winning both of their matches.
