Imam-ul-Haq comes from a long line of cricketing heritage. He is the nephew of the Pakistan legendary cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq. Recently, the left-hand batter has signed for the Somerset team who play in the County Championship. He has been signed to help the team in the final four matches of the championship.

After coming in to bat in his debut match for the English county team, Imam produced 90 runs before he was caught behind off Tom Price's delivery. The Pakistan batter helped Somerset recover from 17/2 against Gloucestershire.

Imam has edged past his legendary uncle who played for the same team years ago. In three matches, however, Inzamam could only make 89 runs which has been surpassed by his nephew in just one inning.

Somerset finished the day at 209/8 on the back of a great knock from Imam. He showed great technique throughout his knock as he saved his team from huge embarrassment on the rain-interrupted day. The southpaw demonstrated Test quality as he punished loose deliveries while respecting the good ones. Imam looked strong with the word get-go and soon reached a flawless half-century off of 108 deliveries with fellow partner Rew.

His two glorious drives have been getting a lot of traction on social media with people praising the batter for his great technique in the shot.

Imam-ul-Haq has been left out of the Pakistan 20-20 team but is a mainstay in their ODI and Test teams. After debuting in 2017 against Sri Lanka in the ODI, he has gone on to play 54 ODIs for Pakistan and has produced 2528 runs with an incredible average of 52.67.

He debuted in Test a year later and has so far featured in 16 matches for Pakistan. He is yet to reach 1000 runs in Tests as he is 27 runs short of the milestone. Imam who is a technically gifted player does not like to bat in an aggressive manner and hence isn’t suited to the 20-20 format. He has only played two T20Is for Pakistan and has made 21 runs in them.
