The controversial and 'within-the-rules-of-the-game' dismissal of star England wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow by Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey during the Ashes sparked a debate across the cricketing fraternity. This incident drew a lot of attention and debates around the subject of ‘laws vs spirit of the game’. Although, it was considered fair by most of the former cricketers and cricket experts.
Similarly, the same kind of situation occurred during the third day of the recently-concluded first Test between West Indies and India. It all happened when Team India’s debutant wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan tried to pull off a cheeky stumping with West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder on the crease. After collecting the ball behind the stumps, he waited for the batter to lift his back foot before he could dislodge the bails and appeal for a stumping. Kishan successfully do that and appealed to the umpire.
Although, it was turned down by the umpire since the ball was already called dead. The video of this incident is also making rounds on social media within minutes of being shared by a user on Twitter.

The incident occurred in the 33rd over of the innings but at the time umpire had already called the over it was considered dead. Notably, this is also the kind of stumping Englishman Bairstow has attempted in the past.
Speaking of the action of the match, West Indies came to bat on the third day of the match after India declared their first innings on the score of 421 runs for the loss of 5 wickets having a lead of 271 runs at the end of first innings. The Caribbean side got bundled out only for 130 runs in the second innings and lost the match by a big margin of an innings and 141 runs.
The veteran off-spinner and world's number one Test bowler, Ravichandran Ashwin scalped a total of 12 wickets in the match 5 and 7 wickets respectively in the first and second innings of the match.
