Despite ending up on the wrong side of the match, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders’ bowler Merchant de Lange attracted the eyeballs for his brilliant yorker to dismiss Muhammad Waseem in the 26^th match of ILT20 2023 against MI Emirates. De Lange dismissed Emirates’ star opening batter Muhammad Waseem in the 16^th over of the match owing to his stunning unplayable yorker.

Speaking of the match, ADKR skipper Sunil Narine won the toss and asked MI Emirates to bat first at the turf of Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Batting first, Emirates posted a total of 180 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of a 60-run knock by Muhammad Waseem. Apart from him, skipper Pollard also lived up to the expectations and his stature to smash 43 runs off just 17 balls with four boundaries and three sixes to his name.

While chasing the target, Andre Russell was the only batter who kept fighting and played a quick knock of 42 runs off 22 balls with five boundaries and two sixes on his credit. Other than him, none of the batters crossed the 20+ mark except wicketkeeper-opener Joe Clarke who contributed 22 runs. Eventually, Knight riders fell 19 runs short of the target and lost the match by 18 runs.

Emirates’ skipper Kieron Pollard won ‘the player of the match award for his excellent knock of 43 runs off just 17 balls.
