India are bracing for the Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia slated on February 9 and the players are toiling hard ahead of the much-awaited series. Veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will make a return to the squad and on the other hand, the Baggy Greens are leaving no stone unturned to give their ‘A’ game this time around.
Ahead of the series, Ashwin joined hands with the Number 1 ODI pacer Mohammed Siraj and the duo got involved in a cheeky banter with both of them conversing in their mother tongue. To add more, the off-spinner asked Siraj about becoming the Number 1 pacer in the 50-over format and the question, however, was in his mother tongue Tamizh.
To the delight of Indian fans, Siraj replied saying that it feels good to be the top-ranked bowler. Notably, the right-armer faced a lot of criticism during his initial days and endorsed bashings from all ends as Siraj kept leaking runs in the death overs, in the shortest format of the game in specific. However, of late, he has been growing in stature and is one of the trusted bowlers across all formats.

It’s a good feeling: Mohammed Siraj
Siraj would be aspiring to be on his toes during the Tests vs the Baggy Greens and it remains to be seen if the right-armer could come up with match-winning spells for the Rohit-led team like he did in the past. If at all India win the Border-Gavaskar trophy this time around as well, it could be a start of a new era in the longest format.
“No. 1 ODI bowler, yeppadi da irrukai, yeppadi da feel pannrai? (No. 1 ODI bowler, how are you? How are you feeling?)” Ashwin said in the video in his mother tongue Tamizh. Elated by the question, Siraj replied, “Bahut hi achha lag raha hai, socha nahi tha ki number 1 bowler banunga. It’s a good feeling (I’m feeling quite good, I’ve never imagined I would become number 1 bowler).”
