The final of the Asia Cup 2022 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is currently underway at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam won the toss and invited Sri Lanka to bat first. The bowling unit was right on the money from the first over itself.

Bowling just the third delivery of the first over, Naseem Shah ripped apart Kusal Mendis’ stumps. The Sri Lankan batter had no answer to the vicious in-swinger bowled by Naseem Shah, one that went right through the gate. Sri Lanka dealt with an early blow as they lost their first wicket for just 1 run on the board.

Sri Lanka made the worst possible start in the big game. In the fourth over, Haris Rauf had Nissanka and, thereby, sent both the openers back to the hut. Dhanajaya de Silva was looking good but wickets falling at regular intervals has dented the innings.

Haris Rauf had Gunathilaka bowled in the 6th over, while Shadab Khan ripped apart Shanaka’s (2 off 3) stumps to leave Sri Lanka reeling at 62 for 5 in 9 overs. However, since then Rajapaksa and Hasaranga have made a decent recovery.

At the time of writing, Sri Lanka have lost five wickets for 90 runs with Hasaranga (16) and Rajapaksa (31) in the middle.

India, unfortunately, couldn't reach the final of the Asia Cup 2022. The Men in Blue began their campaign with two back to back wins against Pakistan and Hong Kong. However, two losses in their first two matches of the Super 4 round against Pakistan and Sri Lanka meant India were knocked of the race for the final. The Men in Blue, however, finished their campaign with a 101-run win over Afghanistan.

Virat Kohli's return to form is the biggest positive for India from the tournament. In India's last match, he ended his century drought by hitting his first ever century in T20 internationals against Afghanistan. That knock would have given a lot of confidence to the former Indian skipper and India team would be delighted about that.
