With the Indian T20 League 2022 done and dusted, the Indian players are now set for a gruelling schedule. In their first assignment, India will take on South Africa in a five-match T20i series at home. The first game starts on the 9th of June at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The final match of the series will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on the 19th of June.
In the absence of some of India's star players, many young faces have been given an opportunity to play at the highest level. Some notable players who have been rested for this series include Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami. KL Rahul has been named the captain for the five-match series.
With the first T20I starting in two days, the players have begun their preparations in Delhi. Ahead of the first match, India's head coach was spotted addressing his team and the young players for the important series. In the video, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Venkatesh Iyer, Axar Patel, Dinesh Karthik, and others can be seen attentively listening to Dravid.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) official Twitter handle posted the video. "Back in Blue - Prep mode on. #TeamIndia begin training in Delhi ahead of the 1st T20I against South Africa," read the caption.

Along with a few new faces, the series will also see a few players make a comeback to the Indian team. While Dinesh Karthik, Kuldeep Yadav, and Hardik Pandya are back to the squad, all three players had an impressive season in the recently concluded Indian T20 League 2022. Pandya, in particular, had a great season as Gujarat's skipper. He showed great maturity and guided his team to a title win in their maiden season.
Pace bowling star Umran Malik and left-arm fast Arshdeep Singh, on the other hand, have received their first international call-up. Although they are not certain about a spot in the starting XI right away, both players will be eager to wear the national shirt and perform to their full potential whenever the opportunity arises.
