The first of the two-match Test series between India and West Indies was a memorable one for the youngster, who was making their first-ever appearance in red-ball cricket. The young Indian opening batting Yashasvi Jaiswal amazed everyone with a sensational 171-run century knock in his Test debut for India.
Apart from him, the young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan also enjoyed a good time behind the stumps during his stint as wicketkeeper. Although he couldn’t do much with the bat for India in the third day’s second session. Kishan got his first run after playing 17 balls.
Ishan Kishan's approach made skipper Rohit Sharma furious when he was about to declare India’s first innings on the score of 421 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Rohit seemed very animated and made sine hand gestures to Kishan, while the latter was looking quite a bit confused.

Speaking of the action of the Test series opener at Windsor Park in Dominica, the veteran Indian off-spinner and World number one Test bowler Ravichandran Ashwin lived up to his stature. He scalped a total of 12 wickets in the match, including two consecutive five-wicket hauls. He took 5 and 7 wickets in the first and second innings, respectively.
Apart from Ashwin, the young debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal also shone with the bat and smashed a century in his debut Test match for India. With his 171-run knock against the Caribbean side in the first Test, Jaiswal also became the only third Indian opener to score a century in the debut match. Before him, the veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and young batter Prithvi Shaw had achieved the same feat against Australia and West Indies in 2013 and 2018, respectively.
Now, Rohit Sharma-led Team India will be facing the hosts West Indies in the second and last of the two-match Test series from Thursday, the 20th of July 2023.
