India wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson was rested for the recently-concluded second ODI against New Zealand. While the fans were irked by his non-selection, the right-hander was busy helping ground staff members. In a video that is doing rounds on social media, Samson was seen helping the ground staff put together the covers in the midst of a heavy breeze.

Talking about the game, it has been called off thanks to the persistent rain for the second time. Before the first rain break, the Men In Blue were asked to bat first by the Kiwis. Openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored 22 runs in 4.5 overs. At this point, the rain forced to stop the game and persisted for a long time.
After hours of struggle, the game finally resumed and was reduced to 29 overs a side. Right after the restart, Dhawan lost his wicket. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Gill kept the scoreboard ticking. After scoring 89/1 in 12.5 overs, the rain returned and didn't relent at all. This is why the game has to be abandoned. Now, the Kiwis can't lose the three-match series as they won the first game on November 25 by seven wickets. On the other hand, the visitors need to win the last game on the 30th to avoid the series' loss.
Meanwhile, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson said "A bit disappointing, the weather seems to be following around us. But we did well to get some cricket. A good team performance in the first ODI. Latham played a fantastic innings. Looking forward to Christchurch now".
