Former England footballer Wayne Rooney has slammed Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe for shoulder pushing Lionel Messi. Apparently, the latter has pushed his teammate Messi during the game against Montepellier.
The incident happened after Mbappe was denied the second penalty chance by Neymar Jr. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner walked away in anger which didn't go down well with the teammates and the fans.
The situation escalated after the 23-year-old pushed Messi with his shoulder. Reacting to this, former Manchester United player, Ronney has slammed the PSG player. The former said that he hasn't seen a 'bigger ego' than this in life. Rooney added that someone needs to remind Kylian that the Argentina legend won four Ballon d'Or awards at the age of just 22.
"A 23-year-old player commits to pushing Messi, I have never seen a bigger ego in my life. Someone should remind Mbappe that when Messi was 23 he had already won four Ballon d'Ors," Ronnie said while speaking to Depar Sports.
Mbappe has nothing to prove: Thierry Henry
On the other hand, former France International, Thierry Henry has defended Mbappe for his behavior. Henry states that the centre-forward is at his best and has nothing to prove to anyone. Thierry believes that there will always be a debate between Mbappe and Neymar. He further states that the coach needs to find a way to play the three giants of the game.
“It’s his place. He will of course have to show it (his best level) as he has shown from the start. But he has nothing to prove to anyone,”
“At PSG, there is always a debate, a problem. They won 5-2, and we’re talking about Mbappe. Last year, it was Neymar, and it will always be like that; it’s PSG.”
“The coach will have to find a way to play the three (Messi, Neymar, Mbappe) and make them happy…good luck.”
It will be interesting to see how the trio of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe go along in the near future.
