Trent Rockets and Northern Superchargers locked horns at Headingley, Leeds. The Yellow brigade won the toss and elected to field first. They had a dream start with the ball as Luke Wood took the wicket of Adam Lyth with a vicious short ball. The Purple brigade's skipper Faf du Plessis (0) bagged a duck as he was caught behind by Kohler-Cadmore of Daniel Sams.
Michael Pepper (15) started well but was clean bowled by Wood. Luke Fletcher dismissed Dwayne Bravo (15) to peg the opponents on 41/4. Fletcher and Samit Patel further increased the problem of the Northern as they took the wickets of John Simpson and Adam Hose respectively. These wickets meant that the scorecard read 68/6. At this stage, the home team looked in deep trouble.
However, the likes of Reodof van der Merve and David Wiese stitched a partnership of 83 runs. The team recovered well thanks to the partnership and amassed 152/8 at the end of the innings. van der Merve scored 30 while Wiese scored a fifty in just 27 balls with two fours and five sixes. Talking about Rockets' bowling, Daniel Sams took three wickets, Wood and Fletcher two each while Patel took one.
In reply, the visitors had a great start as openers Alex Hales and Dawid Malan stitched a partnership of 86 runs in just 53 balls. The former scored 43 off 27 balls including four fours and two sixes before being caught behind by Simpson off Adil Rashid. Cadmore (1) couldn't do much as he was caught by Rashid off Ben Raines. At 93/2, Malan and Colin Munro stitched a partnership of 52 runs. The latter got out to Bravo after scoring 14.
On the other hand, the former World Number One T20I batter stayed unbeaten till the end. The left-hander scored 88 off 49 balls including 11 fours and three sixes. His side won the game by seven wickets with six balls left in the game. The Superchargers bowlers had no answer to the assault from Trent batters.

Fantastic innings @dmalan29! What a victory for #TrentRockets chasing this with ease.
Imo the strongest top 4 in a single team with Hales, Malan, Root & Munro. A great tournament is upon us 😍 #TheHundred— Ridwan (@rid_aman) August 9, 2022
