The match number 4 of the Womens Premier League (WPL) 2024 turned out to be a one-sided affair as the Delhi Capitals Womens (DC-W) registered an easy victory against the UP Warriorz Womens (UP-W) team at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The DC-W team, wounded from a last ball defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians Womens (MI-W) came out all guns blazing and registered a comprehensive win against the UP-W side by nine wickets.

Earlier in the game, Winning the toss, Meg Lanning opted to field first, a decision that proved astute as her bowlers delivered superbly. Marizzane Kapp's opening spell was exceptional, exploiting the outswinger to trouble the batters significantly. Claiming three wickets while conceding just five runs in her four overs, she set the tone for the innings.

The star Indian bowler Radha Yadav provided crucial support, showcasing her arm ball and accuracy to secure four wickets for 20 runs. Apart from Swetha Sehrawat's 45 off 42 balls, Delhi Capitals Women's bowlers dominated the UP Warriorz lineup. This knock from Swetha made sure that UP-W had something on the board so that their bowlers can defend.

Chasing a target of 120 runs, the batting side didn't face a daunting task, with the pitch showing signs of ease by the time Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma took the crease. Lanning chose to stabilize the innings while Verma displayed her aggressive stroke play. With the target being relatively modest, Verma took charge against the bowlers, asserting her dominance with confident batting.

Lanning (51) was dismissed when just one run was needed off 34 balls, while Shefali remained unbeaten on 64 runs, ensuring her captain reached her half-century. None of the bowlers from UP Warriorz posed a significant threat. Sophie Ecclestone managed to take a consolatory wicket when the scores were tied. The runners-up of WPL 2023 secured victory by nine wickets with an ample 33 balls remaining.
