On 27 July 2023, Team India will begin the three-match ODI series in West Indies. They will look to win this series dominantly as a stepping stone in their preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup later this year. However, many players like Hardik Pandya will be in action in this upcoming series.

He will be the vice-captain also while Hardik will lead the team in the five-match T20I series against the Windies. But, now, reports have come out that he might get rested for the upcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland. The series is scheduled to begin on 18 August while the second and third match will be held on 20 and 23 August respectively.

Hardik Pandya last played for Team India in March 2023

However, after such reports, fans came up with their views on social media. Many fans left surprised as Hardik Pandya has not played any cricket since the IPL 2023. In that tournament, he led Gujarat Titans (GT) to the final but eventually, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated them. He last played for the Men in Blue in March 2023. Recently, an image went viral where Pandya was seen enjoying the sea in the Caribbean along with Suryakumar Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and other backroom staff.

Some fans also claimed that the decision might be taken based on the workload management ahead of the ODI World Cup, starting in October in India. Reports also suggested that the star all-rounder is going to be a part of the Asia Cup squad. Hence, he will be given a rest. Asia Cup 2023 is all set to begin on 30 August. However, the Men in Blue will play their first match on 2 September against their arch-rivals, Pakistan in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Speaking of Pandya’s ODI career so far, he has played 74 matches and scored 1584 runs, including 72 wickets with the ball.
