India under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma thrashed Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 to lift their eighth title in the history of the tournament. Apart from that, it was also the second consecutive title win for India in an ODI Asia Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, Rohit has also achieved a milestone which is one of its own kind as he hasn’t lost any final in which he appeared as captain, including 5 IPL trophies, 1 CLT20 title, and 3 finals for India. The Indian skipper 9 wins in 9 finals in the limited-overs format. The Asia Cup 2023 final was his 9th appearance in any white-ball tournament final as captain.
Now, he will be leading Team India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting on Friday, September 22 with the first ODI at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The series will be crucial for the men in blue in their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in their own backyard.
India will start their run in the 13th edition of the World Cup with their campaign opener against the five-time champions Australia. Both teams will play their first match in the World Cup at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.

The Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia is expected to be announced shortly. The management is most likely to pick a squad more or less similar to the one they have announced for the ODI World Cup 2023.
Coming back to Rohit Sharma, it will be his overall third appearance in an ODI World Cup 2023 during his illustrious international career of more than 16 years; he failed to make it to the Indian squad that won the ODI World Cup 2011. Later, he was a part of the squad in the 2015 and 2019 editions.
