Former Indian skipper and batting superstar, Virat Kohli once again lived up to his great stature and smashed a brilliant century in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 super-4 clash against the arch-rivals, Pakistan. Kohli scored 122 runs off just 94 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes with the bat. He went on to hit all the Pakistan bowlers throughout the corners of the ground.

With this outstanding knock, Kohli has made a double-blast by scoring his 47th ODI century and completing the 13,000 ODI run. Now, he is just behind former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the highest number of centuries in ODI cricket. Kohli is just 3 centuries away from breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries (49).

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul tons power India to a big total

Speaking of the action of the ongoing super-4 match between India and Pakistan, the star batter KL Rahul also impressed everyone with his sensational comeback in Team India. The 31-year-old smashed his 6th ODI century and scored 111 runs off 106 balls, with 12 boundaries and 2 sixes.

On the back of these two brilliant centuries following the half-centuries of 56 and 58 runs from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, India posted a big total of 356 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan were the only two wicket-takers for Pakistan, claiming one wicket each.

Notably, this match is being played on the reserve day after the scheduled day got washed off due to the heavy rain at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Pakistan have scored 42 runs for the loss of one wicket in 9.4 overs while chasing the mammoth target of 357 runs. skipper Babar Azam and opener Fakhar Zaman are there in the middle on individual scores of 14 and 9 runs, respectively. Star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has scalped the one wicket of Pakistan’s in-form opener Imam-ul-Haq.
