The probable new chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Zaka Ashraf came has already started making it to the headlines for his statements. Just a day back, he went on to reject the hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023 which was highly promoted by his predecessor Najam Sethi.

“The first point is that I had rejected the hybrid model (for Asia Cup) in the past itself – because I do not agree with it. The board of the Asian Cricket Council had decided that it should be held in Pakistan, then we should host it,” said Ashraf during a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Although in a surprising turnaround of things, he has made a U-turn in the entire scenario and agreed for the hybrid model of the Asia Cup 2023 which is to be played later this year in the month of August and September.

Subsequently, the cricket fans took it as an opportunity to troll Zaka Ashraf brutally on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Fans came up with a lot of hard and fast-lined reactions to Ashraf’s U-turn in making a decision on the Asia Cup 2023.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Apart from rejecting the hybrid model initially, the new PCB boss also talked about the number of matches to be hosted in Pakistan in comparison to those which are to be hosted in Sri Lanka.

“All the main matches are happening outside (of Pakistan). (Teams like) Nepal and Bhutan are going to play in Pakistan – which is not fair for Pakistan. I do not know what the board has decided previously, I do not have access to the information. I will check, whatever is doable in the shortest possible time, will do that for the betterment of Pakistan,” stated Ashraf.

“There are challenges lined up ahead for Pakistan, there are many pending issues, the Asia Cup is there, then the World Cup, the team’s preparations, a lot of issues. I do not want to speak against anyone because I have not (yet) taken over,” he added later on being asked about former chief Najam Sethi.
