In utter dismay to the Indian cricket fans just a month ahead of the Test Championship final against Australia, the veteran pacer Jaydev Unadkat has sustained a left shoulder injury. Unadkat injured his left shoulder in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023; subsequently, he has also been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament citing recovery concerns.

Currently, the Saurashtra-born pacer is in action with his franchise Lucknow Super Giants in the current season of the tournament. The incident of injury happened to him when he was about to start bowling in nets on Sunday. He started his run up and his left foot got engaged in the net rope which resulted in an unexpected fall for the senior pacer. Later on, this fall injured his left shoulder and he couldn’t bowl after that because it is his bowling hand.

Meanwhile, a section of Indian cricket fans took to Twitter to come up with various reactions and responses to Unadkat’s injury. They also expressed concern for Team India’s preparations for the Test Championship as Unadkat is a part of the squad for the one-off summit clash against Australia next month on the 7th of June.

Here’s how fans reacted:

“Unadkat traveled to Mumbai for scans and visited one of the specialist consultants appointed by the BCCI. In consultation with the board's medical staff, Super Giants decided to withdraw Unadkat from the IPL. He is expected to head to the NCA in Bengaluru for rehab to get fit to travel to England for the Test Championship final against Australia,” reads the report by ESPNcricinfo.
