On 25 January 2023, team India completed another clean sweep at home when they defeated the Kiwis in Indore. It was another dominating series victory another the leadership of Rohit Sharma. But, before the series, fans were worried about the form of the star batter. But, he did not disappoint his fans.
Rohit Sharma finally ended his century drought as he scored 101 runs off 85 balls in the third and last match. It was his first century after a long gap of three years. However, the Indian skipper was not happy with the broadcaster when it comes to their way of showing milestones. He clearly shared his disappointment during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“You guys should know what’s happening.” - Rohit Sharma
It was Rohit’s 30th ODI century in his illustrative career. Regarding the gap between his 29th and 30th ODI tons, Rohit Sharma said that he only played ODIs in three years. But, when the broadcaster is showing three years then it is a big thing for fans. He said: “Regarding the first hundred in three years, I’ve played only 12 ODIs in three years, so three years sounds like a lot.”
Rohit Sharma added: “You guys should know what’s happening. I know that it was shown on the broadcast, but sometimes, you (the broadcasters) need to show the right things also. The last entire year, we didn’t play ODI cricket, we focused on T20 cricket a lot. So, sometimes, people should keep things in mind…the broadcasters should show the right things.” He also appreciated the performance of Shardul Thakur in the match. He took three wickets for 45 runs in six overs.
"We bowled pretty well, stuck to our plans, and held our nerve. Shardul has been doing it for a while. Teammates call him a magician and he came and delivered yet again. He just needs to get more games under his belt," Rohit Sharma concluded. Rohit Sharma finished the series with 186 runs in three innings, averaging 62.
