The World Number 2 ranked tennis star Carlos Alcaraz missed to make it to the finals of the US Open 2023. He lost to Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final of the tournament. Now, he is all set to be in action in the upcoming China Open 2023. It will be his first appearance on the court after the semi-final loss against Medvedev in the US Open earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz also spoke about his focus points and main goals before the start of his campaign in the China Open 2. The Spaniard also discussed the World Number 1 ranked and one of his senior rivals, Novak Djokovic.

As I said a few times, we have a really beautiful battle for the No. 1 spot after the great performance Djokovic had in the American season. He’s the No. 1 right now. I’m coming here with extra motivation to try to recover it in the Race, of course, in the ranking. As I said, it’s something that I have in my mind every time I practice, in every tournament,” Alcaraz was quoted as saying by Beijing Sports

“Is not obligatory for me to recover that, but of course, you have to put the goals in the year. So, for me, the No. 1 spot is one of the main goals for me. In these great tournaments, I’m looking to do great to be able to be close or recover that number,”

“I’m feeling great coming here.” – Carlos Alcaraz on playing in Asian Games 2023

The 20-year-old will start his run in the China Open with his first match against Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann in the China Open 2023. Both tennis stars will play this match in the round of 32 on Friday, September 29.

“We have quality practice at home before coming here, played some sets with players from the academy that are playing great. I’m feeling great coming here. I had my first practice yesterday at the centre court. It was amazing to get in and step on the court and see how it is to be playing on that court,” he said.
