The second ODI between South Africa and Australia turned out to be a one-sided affair. Australia won the match in Bloemfontein by 123 runs and took a lead of 2-0 in the series. On a good batting surface, South African captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision of the 33-year-old turned out to be nightmarish for South Africa right from the start.

Travis Head smashed the South African bowlers for fun in the first few overs. The Southpaw raced away to 64(36) in no time, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. The wicket of Head was more of a relief than a celebration for the home side. Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for a golden duck, which brought Marnus Labuschagne to the middle. What followed was more torture for South Africa.

David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne shine for Australia

David Warner looked at his best and hit some very good cut shots. Warner took the aerial route often and did not let the bowlers settle. At the other end, Labuschagne played an aggressive knock by his method of gap-finding. The two batters felt at home and enjoyed batting in the middle. Both got to their hundred and took the game away from South Africa completely.

Warner scored 106 runs in 93 balls and Labuschagne scored 120 runs in 99 balls. The scoring rate did not stop after the end of the two. Josh Inglis scored a fifty for himself and continued the acceleration. The 28-year-old scored 50 runs in 37 balls, which helped Australia to post a daunting total of 392 runs on the board.

South Africa lost the mental battle due to the pressure of a huge run chase. South Africa started their chase on a good note. The openers scored 81 runs in 9 overs. The dismissal of Quinton De Kock marked the downfall of the South African innings. Bavuma tried his best but could not stay longer. Heinrich Klaasen too tried but failed. Adam Zampa shined with the ball for Australia, as he claimed 4 wickets.
