Bangladesh vs India, ODI Series 2022: Top 3 player battles to watch out for

Team India’s tour of Bangladesh is going to kick off on 4 December 2022. First, India will play a three-match ODI series followed by a two-match Test series. After the 20-20 World Cup, senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli took a rest from the whole tour of New Zealand. Now, all those players have come back for this series.

Keeping the 50-over World Cup 2023 in the mind, this series is going to be a great platform to prepare for team India. However, Bangladesh have faced some injury setbacks ahead of the series. Still, they will be ready to give a tough fight to the Men in Blue in this upcoming series in their home conditions.    

Here are the top three player battles to watch out for in the three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and India:

1. Virat Kohli vs Shakib Al Hasan

This will be one of the battles to watch out for in this upcoming series for fans. Virat Kohli had a great 20-20 World Cup for India, He was the highest score with 296 runs in six matches, at an average of 98.33. So, after taking a rest from the whole New Zealand tour, Virat will look to do well in this series also.

In ODIs against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli loves to bat. Till now, he has played 12 matches where he scored 680 runs, at an average of 75.55. On the other hand, Shakib Al Hasan has a decent record against the Men in Blue in ODIs. He has taken 19 wickets in 18 matches so far with an economy of 4.93. So, Bangladesh will bank on the veteran all-rounder to do well against the former Indian skipper.  

2. Rohit Sharma vs Taskin Ahmed

India’s skipper's form with the bat will be crucial in this upcoming series. In the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma managed only 116 runs in six matches, at an average of 19.33. So, he will look to get back to his absolute best in this series. However, in ODIs, he has enjoyed playing against Bangladesh.

Till now, Rohit has played 13 matches where he has scored 660 runs at an average of 60. But, Taskin Ahmed can give trouble him in this series, This pacer is coming off after experiencing a good 20-20 World Cup. He took eight wickets in five matches. Meanwhile, he will be unavailable in the series opener due to his back injury. But, Bangladesh will hope to see him in action in the rest of the two matches of the series.     

3. Litton Das vs Mohammed Shami

Another great battle can happen between Litton Das and Mohammed Shami. In the recently concluded 20-20 World Cup, Litton Das played a blinder of a knock against the Men in Blue. He scored 60 runs off 27 balls, at a strike rate of 222.22. So, he will look to show his dominance once again in this series.

On the other side, Mohammed Shami can give him tough times in the series. Shami has a decent record against Bangladesh in ODIs. So far, he has played three matches where he managed to pick up seven wickets, at an economy of 5.74. So, it will be another enthralling battle to watch out for fans in this upcoming ODI series.
