'Chalo koi to Indian cricket ko priortize kar raha hai' - Rohit Sharma signals Indian players leaving Indian T20 League early to prepare for Test Championship final

India skipper Rohit Sharma has indicated that some of the Test players might leave the Indian T20 League 2023 for Test Championship. The team qualified for the final of the Test Championship after New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in Christchurch. On the other hand, India needed to win against Australia in the fourth Test but the game ended in a draw.

With this, the likes of Australia and India will play the final of the Global Championship starting on June 7, 2023. On the other hand, the Indian T20 League 2023, which will start on March 31, will conclude on May 21. Between the league's final and the Test Championship final, there is not enough gap for the players to prepare for the latter.

Meanwhile, India skipper Sharma has said that it is critical for the team to keep its players' workload in check during the league.

"It's quite critical for us. We are going to keep in constant touch with all the players who are going to play that final and monitor their workload and see what's happening with them," Sharma replied to a query from PTI at a press conference after India won the series against Australia 2-1.

"Around 21st May, there will be six teams who will be possibly out of ITL playoff contention and so whichever players are available, we will try and find time to get them to UK early as possible and get some time and we will monitor as much as possible," the skipper gave a sneak peek into his plans for the big final.

"Guys who will be part of finals are not the guys who have not played in UK. May be there could be one or two guys here and there and rest all of us have played in that part of the world. I don't think it will be huge problem."
