In a recent piece of news, the Bengaluru Police arrested two individuals who were alleged of chanting pro-Pakistan slogans during the India vs Australia 4th T20I. The accused individuals who were arrested were recognized as Inayath (28) and Syed Mubarak (25). Both individuals are said to be from the New Gurappana Palya area of Bengaluru.
Informing about the incident, the police officer stated that it happened on Friday night around the time of 10.30 PM. The unpleasant incident took place at Mockaholic Pub in JP Nagar’s first phase during the live screening of the fourth T20I of the India vs Australia five-match T20I series.
“According to the complainant Sudhir Singh, the pub manager, as the match ended, one of the patrons shouted Bharat Mata Ki Jai and three to four people sitting at the next table shouted ‘Pakistan Zindabad’,” reads a report in Indian Express.
Subsequently, a case was registered against both accused under IPC sections 153 (a) and 505(2). The IPC section 153 (a) states the offence of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc. Whereas, the 505 (2) section of the Indian Penal Code suggests an offence of making the publication and circulation of content which may cause ill-will or hatred between different groups an offence.

Earlier during the ODI World Cup 2023, a viral video went on to hit the headlines of both social and mainstream media when a Pakistan fan was stopped chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans to support his side during a match of the tournament at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The video of the argument between a police officer and a Pakistan cricket fan also garnered a lot of different reactions from cricket fans and experts from both India and Pakistan. It also initiated a major controversy among the cricketing experts of both countries.
