India U19 under the captaincy of the youngster Uday Saharan, made it to the final of the Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2024. However, things didn’t fall in their favour and the boys in blue lost to Australia by 79 runs in the summit clash of the tournament. With this, India U19 missed to win their record-extending sixth title in the U19 World Cup.

Meanwhile, former India batter Mohammed Kaif with a lot of praising remarks for the young Australian team that defeated the Indians in the final of the tournament. He reckoned that this time in U19 WC 2024, the Aussies were very impressive both “on paper and on the field”

Notably, Mohammed Kaif was active as a commentator for Star Sports Network during the final of the U19 World Cup 2024 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

Following India’s defeat against Australia, Kaif also took to his official X handle (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts about the result of the match.

“At the U-19 level team results don't matter much. Future stars learn lessons that help them in a long journey, well played India. This time have to say Australia good on pitch, and on paper #U19WorldCup2024,” wrote Irfan Pathan in his latest post on X (File Photo)

Talking about the action of the U19 WC 2024 final between India and Australia, the Aussie skipper Hugh Weibgen won the toss and decided to bat first. They scored 253 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

While chasing the target, Team India failed to cross the line and they were bundled out just at the score of 174 runs and lost the match by 79 runs. Eventually, Australia won the title clash and registered the fourth U19 WC title to their name.
