The story for any touring team in Test match cricket, be it in Men’s or be it in Women is pretty much the same. All round team effort powers India to this emphatic win
After winning the toss, Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat on a favourable surface, and the Indian batters made useful contributions on Day 1, posting a total exceeding 400. Although no centuries were scored, there were a couple of century partnerships. In response, England Women struggled against the Indian bowlers, with Deepti Sharma delivering a remarkable five-wicket spell, allowing India to gain a substantial 292-run lead.
Despite having the option to enforce the follow-on, Harmanpreet chose not to, and India Women added valuable runs on Day 2, setting a challenging target of 479. In the second innings, the England batters once again lacked resilience, with Pooja Vastrakar taking three wickets and Deepti Sharma securing a four-wicket haul. Deepti, with 87 runs and 9 wickets in the match, delivered a brilliant all-round performance.
