The fans are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024. Meanwhile, the Indian Cricket Board is also searching for a new title sponsor for the tournament for the next four-year tournament cycle from 2024 to 2027. The board released the invitation of tender for the title sponsorship rights.

Meanwhile, a piece of news is also making rounds on both social and mainstream media; in the recent line of developments, the Indian Cricket Board has reportedly disallowed the Chinese Brads from applying for the title sponsorship of the tournament.

Indian Cricket Board states the conditions of sponsorship

“While specific countries or brands have not been mentioned explicitly, the Indian Cricket Board’s decision stems from the public backlash and a negative experience with Vivo, a Chinese smartphone maker. This situation arose in the aftermath of the border standoff between India and China. Subsequently, Vivo chose to exit from the five-year sponsorship agreement, relinquishing the rights to the Tata Group,” reads a report in Cricbuzz.

“The ITT document, which is a prerequisite for participating in the bidding, will be available for purchase until January 8. The bidding process is expected to take place around January 13-14,” reads the report further.

Apart from that, the auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League concluded in Dubai on Tuesday, December 19. It was the first time when the auction of the tournament was held outside India. 333 registered players went under the hammer as 10 participating franchises contested to pick the star and emerging cricketers in their squads for IPL 2024.

The veteran Australia pacer Mitchell Starc ended up being the most expensive player in the history of the tournament; the two-time IPL champions picked him, Kolkata Knight Riders for a huge amount of INR 24.75 crores.
