The veteran Australian pacer Mitchell Starc broke all the records in the history of the Indian Premier League after getting sold to KKR for a mammoth amount of INR 24.75 crores in the IPL 2024 auction. He surpassed his teammate and skipper Pat Cummins who was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for another huge amount of INR 20.50 crores.

Apart from that, the former Indian all-rounder and commentator Irfan Pathan made it to the headlines of social media for his prediction a day before the IPL 2024 auction. During the mock auction on Jio Cinema a day before the main auction, Irfan Pathan predicted Mitchell Starc to be the highest bid of the Indian Premier League 2024 auction. 

This amazing prediction from Irfan Pathan also garnered a lot of reaction from cricket fans over X (formerly Twitter).

Notably, Starc has now become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League since the inception of the tournament 15 years back in the year 2008. He was one of the key performers for Australia in the knockout stage of the ODI World Cup 2023.

He scalped a total of 16 wickets in 10 innings of the 10 matches, he played for the Aussies, especially a brilliant performance in the semi-final against South Africa, in which Pat Cummins’ men defeated the Proteas by 3 wickets to enter the final of the tournament where they went on to beat the hosts India to clinch sixth ODI World Cup.

Interestingly, it will be happening for the second time Mitchell Starc will be donning a KKR jersey in the cash-rich Indian franchise T20 League. Earlier, he played for KKR 8 years back in the year 2015.
