The two-time Champions Kolkata Knight Riders are aiming to make a strong comeback in the Indian Premier League after the miserable run in the last edition of the tournament. The Knight Riders could win only 6 matches out of the 14 matches, they played in the Indian Premier League 2023 and finished in the seventh spot in the points table of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the former skipper of KKR, Gautam Gambhir, who led the side in winning the titles of IPL 2012 and 2014, respectively. The ‘Gambhir’ factor might also come up as a morale boost for the side but there are also a few columns which need to be ticked if KKR want to make their preparations more intact for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Strengths

KKR have quite strong Indian dominance in the batting lineup, including the likes of some power hitters in Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, and Nitish Rana. These batters are capable of switching their batting approach according to the needs of the situation.

Apart from this, they have also a brilliant spin attack, having Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma in the squad. All three spinners on their day can trouble any batting attack.

Weaknesses

Kolkata Knight Riders lack a strong pace attack; not having a proper international or any world-class pacer is still an unticked box for the management. So, they will be eyeing picking some brilliant pacers in their squad during the IPL 2024 mini-auction.

The bowling in the death overs is also one of the major concerns for KKR, as the current setup of bowlers found itself helpless in restricting runs in the final overs during the last edition of the Indian Premier League.

Opportunities

Getting Gautam Gambhir back in the think tank could be a big positive for the IPL 2014 champions as he knows the side very closely. So, in Gambhir’s presence, it will be an opportunity for KKR to come up strong and clinch the title in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Threats

The poor form of the veteran all-rounder Andre Russell might emerge as a big threat for the side. Apart from that, the lack of experienced players in the squad is also a major concern which needs to be addressed at the earliest for Kolkata Knight Riders.
