Shakib Al Hasan often finds himself in the headlines just because of his behaviour both on and off the field. Recently, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan secured a resounding triumph in the nation's general election, particularly as the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) had urged a boycott. Abu Naser Beg, who is the chief administrator of Magura district, confirmed this mentioning that the 36-year-old emerged victorious in the election with a lead of over 150,000 votes.

Nevertheless, following the announcement of the result, Shakib was observed slapping one of the fans in front of a large crowd. The specifics surrounding this incident are yet to be disclosed, but the all-rounder has been encountering considerable criticism on social media in light of this event. Notably, it is not the first time that the star Bangladesh skipper has been found guilty of such altercations.

Conversely, the cricketer has not yet provided a statement on his significant victory. Following the ODI World Cup, he aligned himself with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League Party and engaged in campaigning activities in the Magura district. During this period, he was also seen participating in tennis ball cricket, taking selfies with fans, and various other activities.

Shakib is likely to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup

Nevertheless, Shakib has made it clear that he is not close to declaring his retirement. The all-rounder has withdrawn from the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but is anticipated to participate in the upcomingย T20 World Cup scheduled to commence on June 1. He is expected to manage his responsibilities as both a lawmaker and a cricketer in the upcoming days.

In Shakib's absence, Najmul Hussain Shanto has performed admirably as the captain of the Bangladesh team. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha was pleased with Shanto's leadership skills during the recent tour to New Zealand and, as a result, has endorsed the cricketer to assume the role of the national team's full-time captain. However, he has deferred the decision to the selectors.
