The veteran Indian Test specialist batter, Cheteshwar Pujara is currently in action with Saurashtra in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024, which commenced recently on Friday, January 5, 2024. Saurashtra are taking on Jharkhand in the Elite Group A match at their home ground, Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. It is also the campaign opener for both teams in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024.

Coming back to Cheteshwar Pujara, he scored an amazing century, going unbeaten at the score of 109 runs at the time of Tea on the second day of the match. At the tea time, Cheteshwar Pujara was unbeaten at the score of 109 runs, alongside Prerak Mankad, who was at the individual score of 4 runs.

Saurashtra has scored 338 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, leading by 196 runs in the first innings after bundling out Jharkhand at the score of 142 runs in the first innings. The hosts’ skipper Jaydev Unadkat won the toss and elected to bowl first on day 1 of the game.

Talking about Pujara, he was recently in the headlines of both social and mainstream media after getting ignored by India’s squad for the recently concluded two-match Test series against South Africa. Alongside Pujara, another veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane was also sidelined from India’s squad from the Test series against the Proteas. 

Earlier in the first innings of the ongoing game against Jharkhand, Chirag Jani claimed a brilliant five-wicket haul, scalping 5 wickets at the cost of just 22 runs in 11 overs. Besides him, skipper Jaydev Unadkat and pacer Aditya Jadeja also picked two wickets each. Yuvrajsinh Dodiya also claimed one wicket for Saurashtra.
