Since India’s massive defeat by an innings and 32 runs in the first Test of the two-match Test series against South Africa, there have been a lot of debates and discussions around the absence of experienced veterans in Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. A lot of former Indian cricketers have spoken about the lack of experience without Pujara and Rahane in the team.

Just a few days back, the veteran Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane attracted the headlines of social media after he posted a video on his official X handle (formerly Twitter). In this video, Rahane was seen practising for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024, the top-most First-Class domestic tournament in India.

In the same line of events, the veteran Indian batter and Test specialist batter Cheteshwar Pujara also followed Rahane’s footsteps and recently came up with a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter). Pujara posted a very short video of around 5 seconds which he captioned, “Ranji Trophy prep mode.”

This video shared by Pujara on the micro-blogging platform is also making rounds among cricket fans.

Notably, the hosts South Africa completely outplayed India in the first Test of the two-match Test series. Proteas skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first; batting first, India got bundled out just at the score of 245 runs in the first innings, thanks to the brilliant century scored by the star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who ended up scoring 101 runs to rescue India from a miserable situation.

In reply to India’s first innings, South Africa went on to post a big total of 408 runs in their first innings courtesy of an amazing 185-run knock scored by stand-in skipper Dean Elgar. Later in the second innings, the South African bowling attack bundled out India just at the score of 131 runs to win the match by an innings and 32 runs to take a 1-0 lead.
